Hi!

Meet your instructor

I’m Luca, and drums are my life!

Over the years, I’ve lived in many countries, where i had the privilege of studying with incredible drummers like Troy Wright (Architects, Plini), Dave Elitch (Miley Cyrus, Weezer), Steve White (Paul Weller), James Payne, and Giovanni Cilio. During all of it, drumming has been my way of staying grounded through life’s challenges.

I’ve always been drawn to music that’s hard to define. from ska-punk & funky rock to folk, roots & independent. From psychedelic rock to tekkno metal weirdness. My taste is all over the place, and yeah… it’s pretty strange. Ahaha!

In my own drumming journey I got to a point where, after years of playing, I still didn’t feel very confident behind the kit. I lacked vocabulary, creativity, and theory knowledge. I played with too much tension, making it hard to play for long without getting tired or hurt. I didn’t understand what flow on the drums really meant. Most of all, I felt lost. I couldn’t even pinpoint my skills or knowledge because I had no clear structure in my mind.

Solving these problems took me on a long journey of growth. Along the way, I found effective methods that transformed my playing, and now, I love sharing these solutions with other drummers and aspiring musicians.

The Way

Across civilizations, drums have been voices of rituals, calls to war, and tools for storytelling. Whether in a spiritual chant or as the backbone of a song, rhythm speaks directly to the core of human experience.

This belief is at the heart of The Drummer’s Way—a journey designed to set strong roots on which to grow, as a drummer, at every stage. From building foundational skills to ultimately finding your own unique voice, this path will give you the confidence to play with anyone, tackle any song, and bring your musical ideas to life.

Let’s dive deeper…

  • These are the foundational elements that will shape your drumming journey.

Technique & Physicality – So your body never holds you back.

Drumming Vocabulary – So you always have ideas to draw from and expand upon.

Theory & Musical Language – So you can read, write, and communicate in the language of music with any musician.

Creativity & Musical Application – So you can break free from repetition and begin developing your own musical ideas.

Mindset & Philosophy – For those interested in the deeper side of drumming, we’ll explore rhythm as a universal language and a powerful tool for self-expression.

  • As your drumming roots take hold, you’ll experience newfound freedom behind the kit. No longer will you have to consciously think about what to play—your musical thoughts will flow directly through your hands.

This shift is truly transformative. Instead of focusing on phrases or patterns, you’ll communicate effortlessly through the drums. Music will no longer feel like a collection of exercises or sheet music—it becomes a pure form of expression.

It’s in this space that you’ll enter the celebrated ‘flow state’, a state many musicians describe as one of life’s most profound experiences.

And if I sound a little crazy… maybe I am!

  • Once your roots are strong and ready to support further growth, we can begin exploring the landscape of advanced specialisations. Whether it’s diving deeper into a specific genre, refining advanced techniques, or focusing on a personal project, this is where your drumming starts to truly become your own.

As you explore new horizons, the styles you love blend and evolve, helping you develop your distinct drumming style and voice. A key focus here is the growth of your own unique sound.

The possibilities are endless. Just as every spring brings a new bloom, your drumming path will continue to evolve, adapting to your ever-changing tastes and goals, each season leaving its own contribution to your journey.

  • The Drummer’s Way is a structured path, but it’s designed to be shaped around your unique interests, goals, and musical taste. Throughout this journey, everything we study will be applied to music that you enjoy.

If there are specific songs or projects you’d like to work on, I’ll create custom drum scores of your favorite songs or pieces, tailored to your skill level and designed to fit where you are in your journey. Along with these, you’ll receive custom drumless backing tracks—available with or without a click, and at varying speeds—to best support your current needs.

This will allow you to experience playing in a real musical setting, even if you’re not playing with others. As we continue, your path will evolve with you, ensuring your drumming stays fresh, exciting, and fun.

A drum representing preparation for drum grade exams and internationally recognised certifications, such as those from Trinity College London and Rockschool that ear UCAS points.

FAQ

  • Yes! I can help you prepare for Rockschool (RSL) and Trinity College London graded exams. These certifications are internationally recognised and are a great option for students looking to pursue academic studies or teaching.

In the UK, they also provide UCAS points for university applications. Many European conservatories and universities, as well as institutions worldwide, recognise these certifications as a solid portfolio piece that demonstrates a student’s commitment and skill level in music. Recognition may vary by institution, so it’s best to check with the admissions office for details.

While my priority will always be to make you into a great drummer, if you’d like to pursue certifications along the way, I can tailor your lessons to specifically prepare for those exams.

  • No prior experience is necessary to begin this drumming journey! Whether you’re starting from scratch or have some experience, we’ll design a personalised learning plan that aligns with your current skill level and allows you to progress at your own pace.

Drumming is a journey, and everyone has their own path. I’m here to guide you in the right direction and help you grow as a musician, no matter where you’re starting from.

  • No equipment is strictly needed to begin your lessons, but having at least drumsticks and a practice pad would be great to get started. Ideally, having a drum kit of any kind will allow you to fully engage with the lessons.

During your trial lesson, we’ll assess the equipment you have available and figure out how to make the most of it. If needed, I can also help you set up your equipment to ensure you’re getting the most out of your practice space.

  • The base currency for all lessons is GBP (British Pounds), but don’t worry—all prices will be displayed and charged in your local currency at checkout, at no extra cost. The exchange rate used will be the current market rate to ensure fair pricing.

  • When you purchase a lesson package, you get a code with a balance of either 6 or 12 hours. Here’s how it works:

Check out with your package: Book your lessons as you normally would, then at checkout, in the “Package, gift, or code” section, select your purchased package. The total duration of the lessons you’re booking will be deducted from your package balance.

Use with or without an account: If you’re logged in, you can select the package directly. If you’re not logged in and prefer not to create an account, use the package code from your confirmation email. Enter this code at checkout as if it were a discount code to apply your package balance.

Lesson cancellation: If you cancel a lesson, the time will be added back to your package balance for future use.

Flexible use: You can book one or more lessons at a time, and the balance will be deducted accordingly until it runs out. The balance never expires.

  • I understand that life happens! I want to be flexible, but also need to make plans. So, here’s the policy:

Rescheduling or Cancelling: You can reschedule or cancel your lesson up to 12 hours before the scheduled time. After that, you won’t be able to reschedule or cancel, and full fees will apply if you miss the lesson. I hope you understand that I need this fair time frame to plan my life accordingly.

Emergency situations: If something unexpected comes up and you need to cancel last-minute, please reach out to me as soon as possible. I’ll do my best to accommodate you.
